Sadie attends Woodvale Academy, one of the top high schools in the country. She’s set to be the valedictorian of her class, the MVP on every sports team she’s on, and she helps out at her local library and in her community. She’s basically perfect. Not to mention she’s also the school captain. Co-captain with Julius that is.

In order to retain this level of perfectness, any frustration Sadie feels gets channeled into an email draft. She doesn’t ever send them, but it’s a way for her to speak her mind and get her anger out. While basically half of the school’s faculty and student body have at least one email directed towards them, the most are for Julius, who Sadie despises more than anyone else in the whole world.

One day all of Sadie’s emails somehow get sent out and overnight the entire school knows what Sadie actually thinks of them. She’s not looking so perfect now with people coming up to her left and right to tell Sadie what they think of her. What’s weird is that the one person who doesn’t seem to hate her is Julius. It almost seems as though he’s enjoying the new Sadie, despite having received the most hatred from her.

I had heard so much about this book online that by the time I got around to actually reading it, my expectations were pretty high. I am happy to say that it didn’t disappoint! The author was very good about making sure there was action throughout the entire book and not writing anything unnecessary. This really helped to keep me engaged the whole time.

Furthermore, the characters were very well thought out! I loved how the two main characters were super relatable and complex. There were multiple layers to them, making the book all the more interesting. I liked how their characters both developed in a realistic way as the story carried on. Both of them were also really funny! I really applaud the author for the great imagery in this novel! It was very easy to visualize each character and the setting around them, which I really applaud the author on.

One down side may be that it was very predictable. Once I got to know the situation and the characters, it was pretty obvious where everything was leading. While it didn’t bother me one bit, I can understand how it may be a bit of a let down for others.

In my personal opinion, I thought I Hope This Doesn’t Find You was an amazing read! I loved it from start to finish! I know there is a sequel, so I am excited to read that as well! I think this would be perfect for anyone who is a fan of Jenny Han and/or the To All the Boys series.
